The last event of the Academic Year 2015-2016 was the ‘Finalist Concerts’ of the Murten Classics Valiant Violin Competition 2016. It was a grand setting for a great evening! The finalists Patrick Rafter (IMMA), Vasyl Zatsikha (IMMA) and Cecile Vonderwahl (Zurich Musik Hochschule) played a Mozart Concerto accompanied by the ‘Kammerorchester’ of Mannheim directed by Johannes Schläfli.  IMMA is very proud to announce the result of the Murten Valiant Violin Competition 2016. Patrick Rafter: 1st Prize. Vasyl Zatsikha, Cecile Vonderwahl: Joint 2nd Prize. It was a wonderful way to finish the Academic Year before a well deserved (studious..) holiday to all.

IMMA Residency – Pietrasanta Festival, Tuscany 2016

Following the Ohrid Music Festival, IMMA performed at the “Festival of Pietrasanta in Concerto” in Tuscany. Their rehearsals with their host and co-soloist Michael Guttman took place in the historic ‘Chiostro’ of Pietrasanta and was inspirational! The first of two concerts, on the Pontile de Pietrasanta Marina, in the middle of the sea was an experience IMMA students will not forget. The final concerts at the Chiostro were concluded with a standing ovation, once again! A special thank you to Giulia Panchieri, former IMMA viola student, native of Lucca, who gave her time and talent generously by doing this Residency and playing in the concerts with us. Thank you Giulia!!!

There are moments when perfect harmony between musicians and flawless virtuosity create magic and communion with the public.
