David Gueran, Andriy Ostapchuk, Valentyna Pryshlyak and Greg Tüske, IMMA’s Quatuor Lumière, were awarded 3rd Prize at the International Mozart Salzburg Competition. Congratulations to them for their splendid achievement! After their 1st Prize in Lugano, this new award is a well deserved tribute to their hard work, dedication and talent. The Menuhin Academy can be proud of them.
Last year David Gueran, Andriy Ostapchuk, Valentyna Pryshlyak and Greg Tüske, playing together as the “Quatuor Lumière”, participated the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in Lugano. Competing against thirteen groups they took home 1st prize. In result of this achievement and their continuous hard work, they have been selected for the Mozart Competition in Salzburg this January. A big congratulations to them as they fly IMMA’s flag up high!
IMMA students start the academic year on a high note with a great concert in Frauenfeld, organised by La Bâloise Assurance. They performed a demanding program beautifully in which most of the students were given solo pieces. Valentyna Pryshlyak and Benjamin Caddy played the ‘Concerto for two violas’ of Teleman. David Beck was cheered after ‘Romance Andalouse’ by Sarasate. Sofia-Marie Bergeron played Tchaikovsky’s ‘Melody’ and Greg Tüske, Max Bruch’s ‘Kol Nidrei’. David Guéran and Andrei Stanciu performed Saraste’s ‘Navarra’ and Ciprian Muscleanu, Dinucu’s ‘Hora Staccato’. Last but not least, their Maestro and Konzertmeister, Oleg Kaskiv played the ‘Carpathian Rhapsody’ by Myroslav Skoryk. All performances and solo pieces were received with well deserved cheers from Frauenfeld’s enchanted public.
A new landmark in IMMA history. The Academy was invited with Maxim Vengerov for the new season opening concert of the Philarmonia Baltica in Gdansk 0n 8 September 2013. Great Program: Double Bach Concerto for two violins with Oleg Kaskiv and two new IMMA students – David Beck from France and Sofia-Marie Bergeron from Canada- playing solo with their Maestro. Mozart Concerti n°4 and n°5, Tchaikovsky ‘Serenade Mélancolique’ and ‘Valse Scherzo. Saint-Saens Havanaise and Brahms ‘Danses Hongroises’ n°1 and n°5 as encores. The concert was a triumph with three standing ovations and loud cheers for the Academy when asked to stand! For their last day before a well deserved holiday, they made the Academy proud. Congratulations to them all!
Under the leadership of their Maestro, IMMA students are consolidating the public performance side of their curriculum. More and more prestigious concerts allow their confidence to grow and prepare them for their careers. IMMA was invited to play at the Sion Festival closing concert on 21 August 2013. Standing ovation for Maxim and his students. Mozart, Tchaikovski and Rossini. The reputation of IMMA as a chamber orchestra is reaching new heights.
