IMMA at Champéry Festival

To crown its Rencontres Musicales Internationales 2014 in Champéry, IMMA played, with its Maestro Maxim Vengerov, a memorable concert which got the packed Temple to a standing ovation. A rare occurence, in fact unique, at the Champéry Festival! Wieniawski’s ‘Legend’, Tchaikovski’s ‘Valse scherzo’, Ysaÿe’s ‘Caprice’, Sarasate’s ‘Tarantelle’ and the mighty Chostakovitch’s string quartet n°8 op.110 gave the audience a true taste of IMMA’s renewed excellence under its formidable direction: Maxim Vengerov & Oleg Kaskiv.

Sir John Eliot Gardiner

IMMA students were treated with a private talk from Sir John Eliot Gardiner about his biography of J.S Bach and Bach musical genius at the Palazzo Ricci in Montepulciano. A fascinating moment with perhaps the greatest Bach conductor alive! All were given a signed copy of his book “Music in the Castle of Heaven’ at the end of the talk. Thank you Sir John Eliot!

IMMA Concert at Montefollonico

Concert of IMMA at the beautiful church of Montefollonico for the Incontri in Terra di Sienna festival. The grand setting and views were matched by a remarkable program. Their performance of the ‘Souvenir de Florence’ from Tchaïkovski had the full house on its feet!
